Get Ready for the Second Edition of Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023

Excitement is building up for the upcoming Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023, which promises to showcase some of the best wingfoil riders from around the world. The event, organized by Alex Gamez, manager of The Gallery Surf Shop, will take place in the beautiful Costa Lago area of Torremolinos, Spain, on June 3-4, 2023. A backup alternative on June 10-11 is also available in case the weather conditions do not cooperate.

The Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023 is more than just a competition. It offers a complete experience for riders, visitors, and locals alike. The event will feature a Weekend Wingfoil Expo, where different brands related to the sport will exhibit their products and offer demos for those interested in trying wingfoiling. A ramp wave for surfskate practice will also be available, with free classes for anyone who wants to learn. In addition to the Fun Race Amateur for local enthusiasts, the event will also host the Master World Championship, an opportunity for wingfoil riders of all ages to compete at the highest level.

One of the most significant changes this year is the event’s dates. The organizers have postponed the event to June, a time when the area enjoys the best navigation conditions, with gentle westerly and thermic winds, perfect for wingfoiling. The postponement also means that the Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023 will be the first event to award direct entry to the Wingfoil World Championship, organized by the GWA. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s categories will qualify for the World Championship, attracting some of the best wingfoil specialists from around the world.

The first edition of the Torremolinos Wingfoil was already a great success, but this year’s event promises to be even better. The support of local institutions and businesses, such as the Torremolinos City Council, the Provincial Council of Malaga, Senda Azul Costa del Sol, and the Western Costa del Sol Municipalities Association, is crucial in consolidating the event’s position on the sporting and competitive calendar of the region.

The star-studded lineup of competitors is also another reason not to miss the Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023. Some of the top riders that have already confirmed their presence include Marina Alabau, Olympic gold medalist in windsurfing at the London 2012 Games, two-time world champion, and five-time European champion. Nathan Berger, the current world junior and sub-14 champion of the GWA and World Cup 2022, and Fabian Muhmenthaler, one of the best riders of the moment, will also be in attendance.

In conclusion, the Torremolinos Wingfoil Challenger QS 2023 is a must-attend event for anyone who loves water sports, whether you are a professional rider, an amateur enthusiast, or a curious visitor. With its fantastic location, exciting program, and world-class competitors, the event promises to be an unforgettable experience for all. Don’t miss the chance to witness the thrill of wingfoiling at its best and discover the beauty of the Costa del Sol in the process. Mark your calendars for June 3-4, 2023, and join the wingfoil community in Torremolinos!
